Soft Human-Robot Interface Layer (2024)
Soft Human-Robot Interface Layer (2024)
Every year, robots and humanoids become increasingly accessible, and they will likely (already are) be part of human society in the near future. Within our lab(BIG Lab at CMU), robots come in various forms, and although many of them are collaborative robots(cobots) with advanced safety features, their rigid body and inherent possibility of malfunction pose an imminent threat to the human companion and the robot itself.
These are a selection of numerous inflatables that work as interface layers between the human and the robot, for physical safety as well as an emotionally welcoming look.
